I want to convert the garage into an office for my wife.
Fall through barn floor into concrete room.
I have an old concrete barn floor.
The barn was taken down a few years ago before it fell over it was poured in sections which are a bit uneven.
Cool concrete to lie on and shade overhead it is a sheep s dream.
But my barn is also a through barn design so cleanout just means a trip or two down each side with my tractor and the manure is gone.
Also in some spots it is only stacked stone foundation.
Overall it s an area is 40 x 20 zone 5 indiana some possibilities.
House may start next spring i d like to section off a part of the barn to furnish as a shop and use the ceiling as a loft for storage of some light items.
It can be slippery so while very smooth finished concrete may be attractive and easy to sweep in feed and tack rooms textured concrete is better for stalls and aisles.
These were intended for a house but i only managed to erect a 36 56 pole barn with an aggregate floor.
I am not sure when the garage was added on but it is pretty old.
If you seen this.
It is a dirt floor.
It just scrapes right up.
Then using a special tapcon drill bit made for concrete and a hammer drill drilling a guide hole in position on the concrete using a masonry bit.
But concrete also goes an incredible long ways for hood health.
Then re laying the floor board and using an impact driver to drive the tapcon screw into the plank.
Concrete flooring is very common in stables.
The barn was built in mid 1800 s.
A neat power screed for finishing concrete floor in 36x60 barn i turned off comments on this video because some of you are darn right mean.
It is very durable and easy to clean and is hard to damage.
Pouring aggregate gravel into the concrete does add costs but it also adds traction and even some eye appeal if you want a more rustic look on the barn floor.
Only about 18 in the places i checked.
If you re renovating a historic barn you may think you should salvage replace any wood plank stall floors with more wood floors.
The foundation of the building does not seem to go very deep.
